Medicinal Plants Cultivation Project

LGM

Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM)

 

Rubber Research Institute Malaysia(RRIM)

Sungai Buloh experiment station address 

Stesen Percubaan RRIM, 47000, Sungai Buloh, Selangor D.E.

RRIM used to be the most established rubber research institute in the world.

Recent reshuffle of the rubber related organization made it sole research center for Malaysian Rubber Board.

Sungai Buloh experiment station, 30 km west of Capital Kuala Lumpur is central research premise.

It has been awarded many times for its achivements.


Its main research purpose is to generate
hi-yield of latex by creating new cultibars, new method of harvest, or finding new composition of fertilizer.

Recent flop of rubber price bring rubber estate managements a big headache. Small holders get the worst, because they don't have sufficient fund to convert their rubber trees to high earning crops like oil palms.

RRIM now considers this matter very seriously, and try to find good cash crops to be planted with rubber trees.

Our medicinal plants cultivation project just matches this concept.

We collaborate to do some initial tests on medicinal plants.

As tight restriction on wild plants collection are forecasted, this project could be good solution for obtaining plant materials.

Ethnobotanical Database


We are developing lead compound search system with Japanese Multimedia company
NIK.

This system is working with ethnic information to focus in some plants commonly used by different tribes which is highly independent.

It is supported by Japanese Multimedia supporting agent 'Multimedia contents Asociation (MMCA)'.

Demo-version of this system was presented at "Asian Symposium for Medicinal Plants, spice, and other natural products IX" and praised!

UNESCO requested this system to be linked with Biochemistry Database Directory.

Vietnamese Ethonomedicinal Database

CREDEP

CREDEP (Centre for Research & Development of Ethnomedicinal Plants)

HANOI, VIETNAM

Vietnamese NGO for Ethnomedicine.
It has been playing the biggest part in Ethnobotany or Ethnomedicin in Vietnam.


CREDEP and Nimura agreed to collaborate in making Vietnamese Ethnomedicinal Plant Database in July 1999.
